    • Bookbinding art is a branch of art that encompasses the processes of binding individual pages together and subsequently attaching them to covers, aiming to facilitate their use, protect them from external influences, and add aesthetic value. Handmade bookbinding differs from industrial bookbinding done by machines in these aspects. The person who practices this art is called a bookbinder.

  • Turkish Bookbinding Art
    • While written works were traditionally stored as scrolls in societies like Egypt, China, and Europe, in Central Asia, they began to be stacked and bound into books for preservation and storage. The first Turkish binding example was found among the Uyghurs in the 8th century, who learned papermaking from the Chinese. Subsequently, during the Seljuk and Ottoman periods, significant works were produced both technically and aesthetically. With the advent of printing technology, the quantitative importance of book production became prominent, while the artistic aspect has been preserved through the works of a few master craftsmen.
